Looking for new places to ride? Here are a few of our favorite places to ride in and around Birmingham. There are options for every level of rider, from easy-going paths to challenging mountain trails.

Shades Creek Greenway

A paved 4-mile multi-use path in the Birmingham. metropolitan area.

Red Rock Ridge & Valley System

A network of almost 120 miles or trails, parks, bike lanes, and sidewalks.

Chief Ladiga Trail

A 33-mile paved path that connects several small towns.

Railroad Park Downtown

Several miles of paved path in the heart of Downtown Birmingham.

Black Creek Park

Trail follows an old rail line starting at Black Creek Park and runs under highway 31 and I65 for about 3.5 miles. It stays pretty close to Black Creek the entire time and is well maintained on smooth gravel. It passes the Children's Park as well as the Bark Park. There are benches about every mile with markers every half mile. A little over a mile in there is a picnic table in the woods and a couple of side trails that lead down to the creek in a couple of places.

Oak Mountain State Park

50+ miles of pro built single track, double track, gravity/downhill, pump track, beginner, intermediate, and advanced trails.

Red Mountain Park

A 15-mile trail system that traverses exciting and diverse terrain. Includes scenic views. Great for beginners but has some advanced features as well

Hillsboro Trail

3 miles of mostly paved multi-use trail near the Cahaba River.

Vulcan Trail

The park offers parking and a 2 mile trail that extends to Green Springs highway.

Trussville Cahaba River Paths

The two-mile greenway will offer a new opportunity to bike, run and walk along the Cahaba River.

Horse Creek Trail

The Horse Creek Trail spans just over 3 paved miles between Dora and Sumiton.

Black Creek Trail

This 7-mile gravel path leads to a network of trails and paths of varying levels of difficulty.

High Ore Line Trail

A 2-mile walking and cycling trail constructed as part of the Red Rock Ridge & Valley Trail System.
