Cahaba Cycles Gives Back to the Community
Because you choose to shop at Cahaba Cycles, we are able to support organizations who offer cycling opportunities for our local community and beyond through events, education, and public policy. We're proud to be a part of the cycling community in Birmingham, and we encourage you to get involved with these organizations, too!
Bo Bikes Bama
Every April since 2012, Bo Jackson has set across Alabama on his bike to raise funds for relief efforts of natural disasters in the state. Cahaba Cycles has donated bikes and gear for this event every year and has recruited hundreds of riders to participate in this great event.
IMBA
The International Mountain Biking Association is a nonprofit focused on improving mountain bike trails across the world. IMBA is responsible for many of the beautiful mountain bike trails that exist in Alabama today.
Cahaba Cycles donates $10 from every full-suspension mountain bike purchase to IMBA, raising several thousand dollars per year.
League Of American Bicyclists
The League of American Bicyclists represents bicyclists in the movement to create safer roads, stronger communities, and a bicycle-friendly America.
Cahaba Cycles donates $1 from every helmet purchased in our store to their Bicycle-Friendly America initiative.
National Interscholastic Cycling Association
NICA’s mission is to develop high school mountain biking coast-to-coast by 2020 and to create interscholastic cycling programs that are accessible to all student-athletes.
Cahaba Cycles has helped with NICA's initiative in creating high school mountain bike teams in Alabama. Cahaba Cycles donates $1 from every tire purchased to NICA's efforts.
Trips for Kids
Trips for Kids is an organization dedicated to leading Trail Ride Program for kids; teaching kids through a six-week series of hands-on lessons covering bicycle safety, maintenance, and repair while learning responsibility, achievement, and self-empowerment; and providing high quality, affordable, refurbished bikes for adults and kids.
Birmingham Hammerfest
fueled by Gatorade
Cahaba is an official sponsor of the Birmingham Hammerfest fueled by Gatorade. This exciting, fast-paced criterium racing is not just for the pros. Amateurs and juniors will be tackling the same course and putting their skills to the test. This special weekend includes something for all ages with a kids zone, Alabama Power Lil’ Shamrock fun ride where youngsters can decorate their bicycles and tricycles, a dog parade, and more.
BUMP
Birmingham Urban Mountain Pedaler's (BUMP) is an organization dedicated to making cycling better in Birmingham with a mission to Build, Preserve, Maintain, and Ride the local mountain bike trails. BUMP annually puts on its Bump N' Grind mountain bike race, and Cahaba Cycles provides ample funding and support every year for this premier event.
Homewood Public Library
The Homewood Public Library isn't just a library, it is a cultural center, offering programs for adults, teens, and children, Wi-Fi Internet access, computer classes, meeting rooms, and more. We believe if the value of the Homewood Public Library, and for the past 10 years, Cahaba Cycle has participated in a contest to give away one bike per summer as a part of the Library's summer reading program.
Redemptive Cycles
The Redemptive Cycles mission, to get more people on bikes, captures what Cahaba Cycles strives for day-to-day. We believe that getting people on bikes makes the Birmingham community a more connected, comfortable, and livable city.
Birmingham Bicycle Club
Birmingham Bicycle Club's mission – to promote safe cycling for fitness and recreation for people of all ages throughout the Birmingham community – is closely aligned with our mission at Cahaba Cycles.
Vulcan Tri Club
Vulcan Triathletes is a not-for-profit organization created to promote the sport of triathlon in Birmingham by promoting physical fitness, building a close-knit athlete community, and promoting positive health habits and safe training. Vulcan Tri Club is a club open to anybody interested in swimming, cycling or running - fast, slow, currently afraid of the water, or pro.
